Claudia Sheinbaum Addresses Recent Phone Hack and Disappearances

President Claudia Sheinbaum informed that her cell phone and email were hacked, and the company Apple immediately contacted the Agency for Digital Innovation (ADIP) to address the issue. Sheinbaum detailed that the hacked phone number was gifted to her by Layda Sansores in 2008 and was public knowledge, although she kept it for other communications. The origin of the hacking is being investigated, and a timeline will be followed starting in 2024 to understand who was aware of the events.

In a press conference, Sheinbaum also announced actions to address disappearances in Mexico, prioritizing the families of the victims. The strategy arises after a day of national mourning in memory of the victims of Teuchitlán and other missing persons in Mexico.

The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel, confirmed that payments for the Welfare Pension for Older Adults will resume on Tuesday, March 18. Payments were suspended due to the long weekend and will resume in alphabetical order to ensure the delivery of support.

Regarding the basic basket, Profeco conducted a price monitoring, highlighting that the cheapest products can be found at Soriana Hiper Tacubaya. Additionally, other supermarkets in different states were mentioned where products are sold at more accessible prices, such as Chedraui Campeche and Mega Soriana Tangamanga.

On the other hand, the head of Profeco, Iván Escalante, reported that there are still gas stations that do not adjust their prices to the "cap" of 24 pesos per liter, but the majority comply with this measure in 14 states. Efforts are being made to strengthen the National Search Commission, create a national human identification platform, and establish protocols for immediate search alerts.

Sheinbaum announced that it will be on Wednesday, March 19, when the FGR will announce new developments regarding the Teuchitlán case, committing to provide certainty and truth to the families of the missing persons and victims.
